Eco-Artivism: Weaving with Plastic Against Plastic

Join textile artist Kelsey Merreck Wagner for an eco-friendly and upcycled collaborative weaving workshop at Art SHAC

Plastic is a ubiquitous part of our daily lives with far-reaching environmental ramifications. How can we not only reuse plastic, but rethink our relationships to plastic? In this 3-hour workshop participants will learn basic weaving skills and use recycled materials to create a colorful weaving on a double-sided tapestry loom. This workshop will use the “plarn” technique, cutting plastic bags into long strips of plastic yarn, connecting art and sustainability to raise awareness about plastic pollution.  Participants will be making a joint weaving project that will be displayed at Art SHAC. Attendees will also be able to take home a small cardboard loom that comes with pdf instructions as well as learn how to make a loom from a picture frame.

When: Sat., November 15th, from 10am…
