About the event
Join Angela McEntee to learn about transforming National Geographic magazines into art. National Geographic magazines have some special qualities outside of award winning photography. The paper is coated with clay making it uniquely malleable and fairly sturdy even after treatment. We can transform the pages by using steel wool or Emory blocks and stencils, creating interesting designs for use in collage. Further metamorphosis can be had when applying citra-solv solvent to the pages. This is where the magic and mystery kick in as there is no way to predict what colors or images you will see once the ink starts to melt and swirl! Angela will show you her technique for making the images stand out on the page. Note the smell of the citra-solv bothers some people even though it is non-toxic. All supplies are included.
