About the event
Join artist John Bowhers for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create your own crankie box theatre—an enchanting form of traditional storytelling that combines art, music, light, and movement. Using something such as an upcycled cigar box, you’ll create an illustrated panoramic scroll that moves through the box as you crank it, revealing your story scene by scene.
Once your crankie is finished, bring it to life! Add music, tell a story, and shine a light behind your scroll to create your own miniature shadow theater.
All materials will be provided, including upcycled boxes. Bring a story, song, poem, or idea you’d like to bring to life—and get ready to make a little theater of your own!
