The Art SHAC is a nonprofit creative reuse center where people in Winston-Salem and the surrounding areas can find affordable, gently used art materials and supplies. We rely on community donations to make these resources accessible to all. We also offer classes focused on creating upcycled art. Through our outreach, Art SHAC inspires creativity, sustainability, and community.


Organization: The Art SHAC

Reports To: Executive Director, Jessica Tefft

Schedule: Part-Time, 15 hours per week

Compensation: $20/hour

Location: In-person; some evenings and weekends required

The Art SHAC is seeking an organized, community-minded, and enthusiastic Volunteer and Administrative Coordinator to support our growing organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, supporting the arts, and fostering community.

Position Summary

The Volunteer and Administrative Coordinator will oversee volunteer engagement efforts while also assisting with day-to-day administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, personable, detail-oriented, and passionate about community involvement and the arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and retention

  • Coordinate volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for day-to-day operations

  • Maintain volunteer records and track volunteer hours

  • Assist with volunteer outreach and stewardship and represent The Art SHAC at community events and gatherings

  • Work with volunteers to support day-to-day operations, including pricing items, sorting donations, and assisting with the shop.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Experience working with volunteers, community programs, or nonprofit organizations preferred

  • Dependable, collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working closely with leadership to support organizational goals and daily operations

  • Friendly, professional, and team-oriented attitude

  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends
